Airport set for £250m boost

Share | |

Plans to invest £250m in Coventry Airport are set to be unveiled today. Sir Peter Rigby, owner of the airport, said that 10,000 new jobs could be created for the region through a redevelopment of the site.

Sir Peter's aviation group, Patriot Aerospace, acquired the airport in almost a year ago.

Reports today suggest that Sir Peter's announcement later this morning will centre on a £250m investment into the Baginton-based airport to develop a business park on the site.

The airport previously submitted a bit to the government's Regional Growth Fund (RGF) pot with the aim of creating about 1,000 jobs. The bid was rejected alongside eight other bids from the region.
