Begbies Traynor appointed to collapsed construction trio
The Birmingham office of corporate recovery specialist Begbies Traynor has been appointed to three Northamptonshire-based building and construction companies.
Deejak Builders, Deejak Construction and joinery arm Rushden Builders Merchants are all to be wound up with the loss of 80 jobs.
The administrators said "it had not been possible to trade the business on, with a view to selling it as a going concern".
John Kelly has been named administrator alongside Mary Currie-Smith from Begbies' Cambridge office.
Deejak, which had been trading for nearly 40 years, worked across a diverse range of sectors including industrial and commercial, retail, housing, education, hospitals, sheltered accommodation and leisure.
Kelly said Deejak had struggled because of "a combination of lack of work and difficulty getting paid".
He added: "The difference this time is that the depressed state of the sector has gone on longer and deeper than anything I can remember.
"Deejak had an excellent reputation."
The administrators said they were looking to assign ongoing contracts to others so they can be completed.
Deejak Properties, which purchases land and carries out private commercial and residential development, is unaffected and will continue to trade.
