Midlands poised for power generation investment, says PwC
The region is well placed to benefit from a new wave of inward investment, according to PwC in the Midlands. The accountancy firm's latest research reveals the region is set to profit from overseas companies bringing power generation solutions to the UK.
Phil Harrold, partner and inward investment expert at PwC in the Midlands, said: "The Midlands has a number of coal-fired power stations (run by companies such as RWE, E.On and EDF) which will need to be replaced or redeveloped over the next decade and overseas power generation companies have already been showing interest in investing in this area.
"The investment opportunity in the region is really only just beginning and recent moves by the government to make the UK a more attractive place to do business have come at the right time."
The recent move to reduce the headline rate of corporation tax to 26 per cent, with the intention of reducing it further to 23 per cent is also helping to position the UK as a "more favourable destination for inward investment", said PwC.
