Retallack returns to Squire Sanders Hammond
The Birmingham office of law firm Squire Sanders Hammonds has appointed James Retallack to its labour and employment team. Retallack joins the firm as partner, having spent 20 years at Edge Ellison in the city.
He will take up the position on 1 July.
Edge Ellison became Hammonds following its merger with Hammond Suddards in August 2000. Retallack was senior partner of Edge Ellison at the time of the merger, then head of the firm’s Birmingham office and a member of Hammonds’ partnership board November 2001. He then took up a main board appointment as group resources director at Aggregate Industries.
In Birmingham, Retallack will work alongside partners Charlie Frost - who heads the employment team, Ramez Moussa, and a team of eight other lawyers.
Retallack said: “The opportunity to work with my former firm was too good a chance to miss and I’m looking forward to helping to continue to grow the employment team’s presence in the Midlands market and elsewhere. Having a perspective from both sides of the fence as a provider of legal services and also a buyer, I think my experience supports the firm’s client focused ethos and its desire to provide legal services directly attuned to the needs of its clients.”
