Plans submitted for Recreation Ground redevelopment
Redevelopment at Chesterfield FC's former home is set to begin after HOW Planning submitted plans for a residential development at the Recreation Ground.
HOW, instructed by GB Development, has submitted outline planning for 68 dwellings with associated car parking, access and landscaping.
HOW said the development proposals are in line with the Saltergate Planning and Design brief which was adopted by Chesterfield Borough Council in November 2009.
Chesterfield FC now play their home games at the b2net stadium.
Jon Suckley, associate at HOW Planning, said: "Since the relocation of the football club the Recreation Ground has been used in a very limited capacity but now that the new stadium is fully operational it can come forward for development. The redevelopment of this site will not only provide new homes for the area, but will also help regenerate the surrounding area and remove what is becoming an eyesore for local residents."
