Derbyshire council joins Sheffield LEP
The leader of Bolsover District Council has been appointed to the board of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership. Eion Watts was appointed after his local authority joined the organisation.
Watts joins seven other local authority leaders as a full member of the LEP board.
Bolsover was already an associate member of the LEP but, following a strategic alliance with fellow LEP member North East Derbyshire District Council, the authority requested to move to full membership.
Meanwhile Deborah Egan, director of Sheffield-based digital entrepreneurs programme The Electric Village, has been appointed as the board’s eighth private sector member.
LEP chairman James Newman said: "We’re delighted to welcome Bolsover District Council to be part of our City Region LEP, and look forward to working with our new members.
"Their skills, expertise and experience within both the public and private sector will further strengthen the partnership and bolster our goal to achieve economic growth across the whole city region."
