Park life for Mansell

Share | |

Construction services company Mansell is nearing completion on the refurbishment of a Black Country park. The £2m project involves the restoration of the Dartmouth Park’s walls and entrance.

Mansell’s Stourbridge-based Western Region has been carrying out the work on Lloyd Street, West Bromwich.

The £2.1m contract was placed by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. The work involves the restoration of the park’s boundary walls, replacement of railings, reconstruction of the park entrances and work on the main avenue.

A large proportion of the work is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund under the Parks for People programme. Restoration work has already been carried out on the park’s war memorial.

The opening of the avenue was marked recently with a visit from the mayor, when councillors unveiled a drinking fountain on the site.
