Tigers revive flotation plans

Leicester’s rugby union team are planning to list the club on AIM later this year. According to reports, the Leicester Tigers have also raised more than £4.4m to expand their stadium.

The Tigers had planned an initial public offering two years ago and are now hoping to list to raise money to develop and refurbish their Welford ground stadium.

The club are currently at the top of rugby union’s Aviva Premiership.

Club chairman, Peter Tom, told reporters: "We're delighted that once again investors have shown their confidence in the club by digging deep to raise more than £4.4m, thereby securing the next important phase of the Tigers' future.

"We can now move forward with confidence to a listing of our ordinary shares by the end of the year."

The club appointed former CBI chief Lord Digby Jones on to its board to advise on a listing.
