E.On to cut 175 jobs

Up to 175 jobs are to be axed at Coventry energy giant E.On. The company has told reporters that the majority of the job cuts would take place across the West Midlands.

The company said it was cutting jobs due to “economic conditions”.

According to reports, the company decided to cut the jobs after carrying out a review of the energy company’s property services division, based in Kingswinford.

It is thought the job losses will largely occur in this arm.

A spokesman for E.On told reporters: "The roles will come from a mix of areas including gas service and maintenance and facilities management.

"We have decided to exit a number of areas that we were previously active in. This will result in a number of internal changes to the business, with 175 employees leaving E.On."

E.On currently employs about 4,500 people across the UK.
