The chairman of Experian has been named as the high sheriff of Nottinghamshire. John Peace will take on the role for the next 12 months.

As high sheriff, Peace will act as the Queen’s representative in Nottinghamshire for matters relating to the judiciary and the maintenance of law and order.

Peace said: “Joblessness can often cause breakdowns in family life, leading to underachievement in school and even homelessness. I want to use my role as high sheriff in combination with my role as regional ambassador for business in the community to focus on joblessness in Nottinghamshire. One of my key priorities will be to establish how companies of all sizes in the county can contribute to helping tackle this issue.”

Peace has appointed Richard Bullock, a solicitor and partner at the regional law firm Freeth Cartwright, as his under sheriff and Dean John Guille as his chaplain.
