Coventry and Warwickshire LEP sets up at JLR
The Coventry and Warwickshire LEP has set up its base at the Gaydon plant of Jaguar land Rover (JLR). Manufacturing giant JLR is offering the organisation the unit free-of-charge which it said is “part of its support for the initiative”.
The two staff of the LEP, Roger Dowthwaite and Sharon Newport, have moved across from the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Partnership to handle the day-to-day running of the partnership.
Martyn Hollingsworth, director of vehicle evaluation and verification at Jaguar, is a board member of the LEP, and said the company was a “confirmed backer” of the organisation.
He said: “We are heavily involved in the CW LEP and believe it has made a great start with the potential to make a real difference to business and the economy.
“The staff needed some office accommodation – and we had some office space we could make available so it was a perfect fit.”
Denys Shortt, chairman of the CW LEP, said: “We have got off to a very productive start on several key fronts. Roger and Sharon have worked very hard to ensure that this has happened and it is fitting they are now located in one of the leading companies in our area.
“The LEP is grateful to Jaguar Land Rover for its support.”
