Walton reveals development plans

Walton Homes, based in Lichfield, has announced plans to launch six new sites across the Midlands before the end of 2011. The housebuilder said that plots in Warwickshire and Staffordshire had been targeted for development.

The company said it had made a “significant investment” in new machinery to prepare for its expansion plans.

Sites in Handsacre, Tamworth, Kingsbury, Rugeley, Armitage and Corby will all be launched before the end of the year, said Walton.

The company said that it was increasing the number of homes it planned to build for the first time in three years.

Andi Summerton, managing director of Walton Homes, said: “We have been working hard over the past couple of years to establish a very healthy land bank, in preparation for an upturn in the market. Although the economy is still fragile, the new homes industry is seeing positive signs of recovery across the UK and our experience in the Midlands region echoes this national trend.

“We have recently invested in a new fleet of vans for our in-house team, as well as new forklift trucks for our construction workers. We are very positive about the future and we are putting work out to tender for specialist firms in the local area.”
