Gateway scheme gets go-ahead

Share | |

Birmingham regeneration specialist St Modwen has been given the green light to progress its £50m Hednesford Gateway development. Planning approval for the park element of the scheme has now been granted by Cannock Chase Council.

The approval for revisions to access routes into Hednesford Park means St Modwen can now start the construction programme for the town’s new commercial development, Hednesford Gateway.

The scheme comprises two sites. The first is located on Rugeley Road and the second lies on Victoria Street, adjacent to Hednesford Park and the railway line.

Construction is expected to start on the first phase of the scheme later this month beginning with the construction of new purpose-built premises for Hollywood Bingo Club and the Reserve Forces and Cadet’s Association (RFCA).

The first phase of the scheme also includes the creation of new retail outlets facing Market Street and Rugeley Road.

Phase two of the scheme is the 3.7-hectare (9.1-acres) redevelopment of the Victoria Street area of the town, to be anchored by a new 80,000 sq ft elevated Tesco store.

Tesco will be situated alongside several non-food retail units and a retail kiosk, which together will deliver 38,000 sq ft of new commercial space.
