AWM's ICT Cluster branches off
Advantage West Midlands’ ICT Cluster is launching itself as an independent organisation following the closure of the regional development agency. The organisation advises technology-focused businesses in the region, putting them in contact with commercial partners, support agencies and universities.
The ICT Cluster has worked with businesses in the region for nine years. It will now change its name to ICTWM and will offer support through its website, networking opportunities and online directory.
Mike Musson is the former manager of ICT Cluster and is now heading up ICTWM. He said: “The ICT Cluster has been a great success. A third party report by Ekosgen provides statistics of many ICT firms reporting a number of business benefits from participating in the ICT Cluster’s projects. More than 80 per cent of firms reported that without the ICT Cluster’s support they would have achieved fewer of their business outcomes in the same period.
“In addition, participating companies identified a greater awareness of opportunities for business growth as another advantage to ICT Cluster projects, with involved ICT SMEs far more likely to collaborate with organisations such as research institutions and universities.”
Previous projects of the ICT Cluster include: iCentrum, IT Futures, Accredit UK, Open Advantage, West Midlands Mobile & Wireless, Photonics and Cercia.
