Birmingham bankers back Judges Scientific
The Birmingham office of Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets has agreed a £2.4m funding package for AIM-listed Judges Scientific. The company, which designs and produces scientific instruments, said the investment would boost growth following its acquisition of microscope specialist Deben.
Judges Scientific acquired Suffolk-based Deben for £3.26m earlier this year.
This deal was negotiated by advisers in Birmingham and Leicester. Judges Scientific said the investment follows its growth strategy of “acquiring niche instrument companies with established reputations in worldwide markets”.
The deal was led by Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets relationship director Murray Stewart, who has worked with the Judges Scientific management team since 1990.
Stewart said: “We’ve supported Judges with a number of acquisitions. Deben is a strong and dynamic business and a great fit for Judges ,which will enable it to further broaden its international customer base. Over the years, we’ve developed a strong relationship with the Judges management team and continue to be impressed by their performance and vision for future growth.”
The deal follows the acquisition of Sircal Instruments last year, as well as a number of other, earlier acquisitions which were funded by the bank.
