Events business expands into Spain
Universal WorldEvents, which has an operation in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, has opened an office in Madrid. The business now has offices in the G5 countries of UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy in addition to bases in the Netherlands, US, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Managing director Graham McIntosh said: "The opening of our office in Madrid is a very significant landmark for Universal WorldEvents which means that we now have an office in each of the five major European markets.
"It puts us in a very strong position to be able to look after our existing clients and to develop new ones. It is a key step in the ongoing development of our global footprint and our ability to provide clients with global reach backed up by a local service."
Macarena Hidalgo has been appointed as general manager to lead the company’s entrance into the Spanish market.
Universal WorldEvents was formed in February in a merger between World Events and fellow United Drug subsidiary UniversalProcon. According to the business, the merger was set to create the largest global event management business serving the healthcare sector with a combined turnover close to £100m.
