Chenalord expands with Chilean deal

Share | |

A Chesterfield company which manufactures tools for the drilling and mining industry has gained a new customer in Chile with a potential of £400,000 in orders per year. Chenalord said it will now take on two additional staff as the deal completes.

Chenalord employs 13 people at its Birdholme base. The order from the Chilean business has also helped the company increase its exports by 20 per cent.

Jenny Hormell, managing director of Chenalord, was introduced to the Chilean market through the UK Trade and Investment’s Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS).

Hormell said: “With help from UKTI we were in the right place at the right time. The Chilean company was looking for a supplier of drill tools and we were given the opportunity to introduce our products into the Chilean market.”

She added that the company plans to expand its services in Australia after branching out into South America.

Chenalord’s products will mainly be used in Chile for mining molybdenum, a silvery metal often used in the manufacture of aircraft parts, industrial motors and filaments, and copper.
