Supermarket giant Waitrose has snapped up two properties in the West Midlands. Waitrose will take on units in Sutton Coldfield and Shrewsbury in deals completed by property agent King Sturge.

The Sutton Coldfield store, which is located at SU2 The Parade, is being fitted out for a 31 March opening. It provides 3,685 sq ft of ground floor sales and 1,686 sq ft of ancillary space on the first floor.

Waitrose has taken a new 15-year lease on the store from the landlord, a client of Orchard Street Investment Management who DTZ acted for.

In Shrewsbury, Waitrose will open a new store at 27 Pride Hill/23 St Mary’s Street in May.

The ground floor will comprise 3,629 sq ft alongside a basement area of 3,057 sq ft. Landlord Carlton Holdings, via Regal Asset Management, agreed a 15-year lease with Waitrose. Jackson Criss acted for Carlton.

The two stores are in addition to a third unit secured by King Sturge in Cardiff.
