Birmingham-based property specialist MCD has appointed a former Treasury minister as its vice-chairman.

Ian Pearson, who was the economic secretary to the Treasury for two years from 2008, joins the company having also served as an MP for Dudley.

Before working as a Member of Parliament, Pearson was involved at board level in regeneration and private equity in both the West Midlands and London.

He said: “I have been aware of the high-quality regeneration projects MCD has created in the Midlands for some time. It is an exciting period to be joining the group, especially with funding in place for other large scale projects across England and I look forward to contributing to the future success of the group.”

MCD delivers mixed-use regeneration projects across the country. The company is currently working on the redevelopment of Warwickshire County Cricket Club at Edgbaston and a scheme at Earlsdon Park in Coventry to complete a £100m mixed use project.
