Midas moves back to Trafford Park

Manchester inward investment agency Midas is moving back to Trafford Park – a year after relocating to the Voyager office building at Manchester Airport.

The organisation will co-locate with UK Trade & Investment’s North West trade team. The move is part of a cost-cutting drive across the Manchester ‘family’ of economic agencies.

Midas said: “By working closely together, Midas and UKTI will drive a new bilateral approach for Manchester, harnessing combined international trade and investment opportunities and providing a strengthened platform for Greater Manchester and our ever-growing business community.”

In February 2011, the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) approved plans to streamline Manchester Solutions, Marketing Manchester, Midas and New Economy.

The ten local authorities that make up AGMA expected a £2.8m budget reduction across the organisations, but the figure is now expected to be closer to £4m.

Midas chief executive Angie Robinson will now take on the role of chief operating officer across all agencies to “enable the organisations to deliver more effectively without the need for an additional appointment”.

The new Midas office, at Warren Bruce Court on Warren Bruce Road, opens today.
