£8.5m housing proposals submitted
Proposals have been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council for the creation of 88 houses. The £8.5m plans for Fegg Hayes Victorian Village were put forward following consultation with residents.
The council worked alongside Staffordshire Housing Association and developer Keepmoat to create three potential planning options for the site.
Following consultation, the preferred option - if approved by cabinet and planning committee members - will provide 88 mixed homes, 28 of which will be affordable.
The scheme will be created with an £8.3m investment from the private sector, said Keepmoat.
However, the scheme needs to address issues in the local area before work could begin.
Hardial Bhogal, director for place at Stoke Council, said: “After consulting with local residents the third option was favourite but this does bring with it some issues that we will need to resolve. It will mean we need to negotiate with land owners on the north side of Fegg Hayes Road to purchase their properties.”
If the proposals are accepted, the £8.3m private sector investment will be boosted by a £210,000 grant from the council.
