Derby hears London calling at investment event

Share | |

Marketing Derby has said the city’s embassy event in London attracted more than 50 London retail agents and investors as it presented a stall in the City. The city presented investment opportunities at the Institute of Directors (IoD) on Pall Mall.

Representatives from Nash Bond, Jackson Criss and Lunson Mitchenall joined developers including Hammerson and Land Securities to hear how the city has launched a new tool to assess the business case for investment.

The keynote speaker at the event was Myf Ryan, general manager for marketing at Westfield UK. She outlined the performance of their £340m investment in Derby, which is now attracting 25 million shoppers each year, second only to Westfield London.

John Forkin, managing director of Marketing Derby - which organised the event, said: “Derby has risen 30 places in the UK retail league table and the city is well placed to attract new premium retailers. We felt it important to hold an event in the heart of the west end, on the door step of our targeted agents and are delighted with their response.”

Derby’s 'embassy' moves onto Birmingham later this June.
