A Derby-based company has won a two-year contract to promote the Lincolnshire seaside resort of Cleethorpes. Status Social Media Marketing said the contract win was significant, having only set up the business at the beginning of 2011.

The company, run by Mark Saxby and Martin Broadhurst, will be building and running the Facebook and Twitter accounts for the east coast town, a well as creating a blog.

Broadhurst said: “With around 600 million people on Facebook and 200 million on Twitter, there is a huge audience out there untouched by traditional advertising. Through social media we can target those people who would be likely to visit Cleethorpes – and those who haven’t been for some time but need reminding what a great place it is.”

Status Social Media Marketing also recently ran a social media marketing seminar at Derby Quad for the Derbyshire Enterprise Agency.
