The Treasury opens with NatWest loan

A husband and wife team has opened a gift shop in Beeston after securing funding from NatWest. The Treasury is Paul and Kim Smiley’s first store and will sell jewellery and home furnishings.

The pair had worked as agents for gift companies for several years before deciding to branch off and purchase the store on Wollaton Road.

The Treasury will sell jewellery, homeware, gifts and home fragrances.

NatWest has extended a loan to the couple, which helped contribute to the purchase cost of the shop. The undisclosed investment will also meet refurbishment costs, as the pair designed the interior of the shop floor.

Kim Smiley said: “It has been a long held dream to own our own shop and having worked within the gift industry for a long time, we have brought this knowledge to the lines we sell in store. Whilst I manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the shop, Paul still operates as a commercial agent so we still benefit from him visiting other stores across the country to keep abreast of current trends and best selling lines.

“Coupled with UK and International Trade Show visits this ensures our expertise can be channelled into our retail and developing online presence. Initial trading figures have been good and matching our projections so we are quietly confident that 2011 will be good for us.”
