The Invest in Nottingham Club has announced the appointment of a new chairman. Paul Southby, the former East Midlands regional director of the CBI, takes on the role as the organisation marks its first anniversary.

Southby, who is now a partner with the law firm Richard Nelson, takes over from Roger Summerton, former senior partner with business advisory firm KPMG in Nottingham.

The Invest in Nottingham Club was launched last year, and now comprises more than 100 member companies. Members include Alliance Boots, Experian and Paul Smith.

Southby said: “I am delighted to take up the chairmanship of an organisation which has very quickly established itself as an influential and energetic force for progress in the Greater Nottingham economy.

“This remains a challenging financial climate and it is important that all the stakeholders in the Nottingham economy, both private and public, continue to exploit excellent working relationships in the mutual interests of the city’s long-term growth.

“One of the founding principles of this organisation is that each member is expected to actively play their part and we hope during the coming year we can maximize this and build on the achievements of the first 12 months.”
