Public sector spending to be addressed at conference
An event to connect social enterprises with commissioners is due to take place on Friday (25 March) in Birmingham. The organisers behind Unleashing Value said it will demonstrate how the West Midlands can deliver essential services more effectively.
Unleashing Value is being organised by training provider More Than Outputs. It is looking to open up debate on creating change and how changes in NHS and other public sector spending can bring about new opportunities.
More than 60 delegates are expected to attend the free conference at the Deaf Cultural Centre. They will hear addresses from Emma Jones, senior policy analyst at the Cabinet Office, and Joop Tanis, head of Young Foundation.
Jennifer Inglis, partner at More Than Outputs, said: “The event, which is being supported by Social Enterprise West Midlands, has two aims. Firstly, we want to offer commissioners an opportunity to discuss current and future changes to the way they commission services. Secondly, we are planning to showcase what social enterprises can offer to the public sector.
“It is clear that in the current climate real innovation is required. Attendees include hand picked social enterprises that are taking on the key challenges facing the region including youth unemployment, mental health, obesity and services for people with complex needs.”
Unleashing Value is the culmination of Adding Value Winning Contracts, a two-year programme funded by Capacity Builders and delivered by More than Outputs.
