Brownhills scheme secures HCA grant
A housing development in Walsall has been awarded more than half a million pounds in government funding. Nine bungalows will be built in Brownhills after a £588,000 grant was secured from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
The development will be completed in partnership with Walsall Council and housing provider Accord Group.
Building work is expected to start on the homes in Severn Road on 31 March. It is expected that the scheme will cost just over £1m to complete.
The two bedroom properties will be constructed by Sutton Coldfield-based builder BT Felton & Sons. The company is aiming to complete the development by January next year.
Chris Handy, chief executive of the Accord Group, said: “Despite the economic downturn, this development shows that by working in partnership we can continue to build the much needed affordable housing that Walsall needs.
“We are proud to be putting money back into the local economy by working with a local building contractor like Feltons.”
