Colourbank expands with Lloyds TSB loan

Leicester-based carpet and bed retailer Colourbank has opened a new 30,000 sq ft warehouse and showroom. The company expanded its operations after securing a £1m loan from Lloyds TSB Commercial.

The £2m purpose-built premises off Lewisher Road add to Colourbank’s existing Cavendish Road store in the south of the city.

The expansion will also allow the company to supply trade customers directly through its new trade counter.

Trevor Johnson, managing director of Colourbank, said: “We started in Cavendish Road selling carpets, with just two directors and two employees, and the company later expanded into beds.

“The reason for the move is that we had outgrown our existing warehouses which we had opened just three years ago. The new showroom and warehouse is spread over three floors, and is our first purpose-built premises.

“Lloyds TSB Commercial has been very supportive of our expansion plans and provided the finance to meet our needs over the years that we have banked with them.”

Colourbank said it is now aiming to become the country’s largest supplier of carpets and beds.
