Uniq restructuring agreed

The proposed restructuring of chilled convenience food group Uniq, which has sites in Spalding and Northampton, has been given the green light by the High Court.

The company received a High Court sanction for its scheme of arrangement yesterday (21 March).

Completion of the restructuring, which will mean 90 per cent of the company transfers to its pension trustees to resolve Uniq’s £400m-plus pension deficit, is set to be completed by 31 March.

The company produces own-label and co-pack products, including prepared salads, wraps and sandwiches for UK food retailers and currently employs about 2,200 people.

The existing shareholders will retain 9.8 per cent of the company.

It has four sites across the UK in Evercreech, Minsterley, Spalding, and Northampton.
