Amey part of £900m contract win
Public services provider Amey has won three new contracts with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). The company, which has offices in Colmore Plaza in Birmingham, said the contracts were worth up to £900m over a ten-year period.
Amey has entered the agreement with the MoJ as part of a new joint venture company called 'GEOAmey'. The company also comprises prison and escorting service GEO.
Under the arrangement, Amey would help to deliver prisoner escort and custodial services in the region on behalf of the MoJ.
The contracts will last for an initial period of seven years with an option to extend for a further three years. They are worth a total of £90m per year.
The government tendered four contracts to provide prisoner escort services of which GEOAmey bid and won three. The company will now provide services including escorting people between courts and prisons, transfers between prisons and managing court custody suites and dock areas.
