Barclays Wealth has appointed Ian Walker as a private banker to its Birmingham office. Walker will be responsible for managing the portfolios of several high net worth clients in the Midlands, the bank said.

Walker has more than 20 years’ experience in financial services and joins Barclays Wealth from private bank SG Hambros, where he was a senior private banker.

Prior to this, he worked as a senior financial planning specialist at Coutts & Co, where he supported private bankers in the Milton Keynes, Oxford and Eton offices.

Ben Gulliford, Barclays Wealth’s regional centre head for Birmingham, said: “Ian’s appointment to our expanding team underlines our commitment to developing business in Birmingham. Over the past year we’ve continued to grow our team and expertise, further cementing our position as one of the leading wealth management organisations in the Midlands.”
