UK Flood Barriers, based in Droitwich, has secured a nationwide distribution deal to provide its flood protection services. The company will be responsible for rolling out the self-closing flood barrier (SCFB) to the Environment Agency, local authorities, businesses and residential properties across the UK and Ireland.

The company’s flood defence system automatically rises like a floating wall when water levels rise.

Plans are now underway to roll out the product across West Midlands over the next 18 months.

Sarah Vaughan, managing director of UK Flood barriers, said: “With one in six homes in England being at risk of flooding, the requirement to increase levels of investment in flood protection will be high on the agenda over the next decade.”

The company was supported by the Manufacturing Advisory Service-West Midlands (MAS-WM).

The company said that launching the product into the domestic marketplace spearhead its growth over the next 12 months. Business is expected to double to more than £2m by 2012.
