Turnover increased 7.7 per cent to £27.56m at Herefordshire-based DM, it was revealed this morning. The direct marketing company said that it was “quietly satisfied” with its year-end results after a “challenging” year.

Profit after tax also increased by 10.3 per cent from the year previous to £3.84m. The company revealed its results for the year ending 31 December 2010 through the London Stock Exchange (LSE) this morning.

Earnings per share were up 6 per cent on DM’s 2009 results to 2.31 pence.

In a statement, the company described 2010 as “a period of quiet and cautious progress”.

It said: “While there is little sign of significant market improvement, as and when the level of direct marketing activity eventually increases, DM will be in a strong position from which to capitalise on its market leading, multi-channel offering.”

DM chairman, Adrian Williams, said: “2010 has been another challenging year for the group and we are quietly satisfied with the results. Progress has, and continues, to be made across all business activities and the group continues to be well placed to benefit when market conditions finally start to improve.”
