Birmingham’s delivery of large scale infrastructure, transport and retail developments attracted more than 900 investors to the city’s MIPIM stand, it has been revealed.

Leader of Birmingham City Council, Mike Whitby, said: “Birmingham has upped its game in how it promotes itself as a global city and is now a premier destination of choice for investors.

“MIPIM has provided the city with an opportunity to not only showcase our vision for making Birmingham a leading global city in which to live, work and invest, but to engage with over 900 representatives of the global developer community.

“The Big City Plan, our blueprint for investors to see how the city will develop over the next 20 years, our vision for improving the city’s transport network and connections, with the runway extension at Birmingham airport and HS2, made for a compelling offer for delegates at the conference and I am looking forward to progressing some of the connections we have made this week.”

Major announcements made at MIPIM involving Birmingham included the unveiling of images of the New Street Station/John Lewis development, a certificate of immunity granted for the library and Rider Levett Bucknall being appointed by State Bank of India for a project fit-out and refurbishment plan for nine high street branches.
