Housing scheme green lighted

Share | |

Forty affordable homes are to be built in Northampton after councillors approved proposals put forward by housing association Orbit Homes.

The two-acre scheme comprises a mix of two and three-bedroom houses plus one and two-bedroom flats. It will be centred round an open play area in Boughton Green Road, close to the town’s university campus.

Orbit was advised by Brooke Smith Planning to secure the scheme.

Brooke Smith Planning’s associate director Will Charlton said: “We are pleased to have secured permission from Northampton Borough Council for this scheme. It will provide a welcome boost to the social housing sector in the town as well as creating employment opportunities during the building phase.

“Orbit expects to confirm funding for this development very soon, so residents, who are in need of such housing which is currently under provided in the area, can move in as soon as possible.”
