Weightmans takes Vizards' insurance team
Law firm Weightmans, which has offices in Birmingham and Leicester, has confirmed it is to acquire the insurance division of Vizards Wyeth. The acquisition of the Kent-based firm's division will be effective from 1 April 2011.
Patrick Gaul, managing partner of Weightmans, said: “We are very pleased to agree terms. There is a good cultural fit between the two firms and we share a lot of common ground.
“Vizards Wyeth has a strong insurance litigation practice, great clients and excellent people, and we will consolidate our position in the South East with this acquisition,” he added.
Brian Williams, partner of Vizards Wyeth, said: “We are delighted to agree terms with Weightmans and become part of an outstanding national practice.”
Weightmans LLP is continuing its merger talks with Mace and Jones. The firm said that it was “hopeful” that terms will be agreed in the coming weeks.
