The UK’s regional centres are gearing up for a big inward investment push at the world’s largest property exhibition from tomorrow – and Insider will be there to report. Birmingham’s programme will include presentations on the new city library and its rejigged Big City Plan. Coventry, which last year impressed Barberry enough with its proactive approach at MIPIM to bring the developer to work in the city, is also committed to the event.

From tomorrow to Friday, Cannes will play host to an international exhibition that attracts anywhere upward of 30,000 visitors per year as the global property industry comers together to do business.

Mike Whitby, leader of Birmingham City Council, will be speaking at ten events covering areas such as investment in infrastructure, innovative funding models and low carbon development.

He said: “We have been coming to MIPIM for some years, launching development plans and initiating discussions with developers and end users, highlighting Birmingham’s vision for future growth.

“This year the city will be demonstrating how it is currently one of the most active regional cities in regards to development and construction, with major schemes underway such as New Street Gateway. Birmingham is delivering on its development promise.”

Whitby will be participating in a panel debate within the main conference programme on ‘Making Regeneration Happen in the UK’ alongside figures from Manchester and Leeds, as well as leading a series of events on Birmingham’s Decade of Delivery.

Property and construction giant Rider Levett Bucknall is also set to use the event to make a major announcement regarding a project win and the opening of its new offices in India.

Rider Levett Bucknall, which has an office in Birmingham, also has offices located throughout the world.

Lance Taylor, chief executive of Rider Levett Bucknall, will reveal the details on 9 March at Birmingham’s stand at the event.

Insider will be in Cannes compiling a daily newsletter from the event each day, with the major news, announcements and interviews with key figures. If you have a story, please email Neil Tague.
