Warwickshire AD plant green lighted

Share | |

Planning permission to construct an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant in Warwickshire has been approved. The plant is to treat up to 45,000 of food waste per year and the electricity produced aims to meet the demand of up to 2,000 homes in the region.

Plans to construct the site were submitted by Bedfordshire-based BiogenGreenfinch and approval has now been granted by Warwickshire County Council.

The plant will be built on the Merevale and Blyth estate in Warwickshire, and will be owned and operated by BiogenGreenfinch.

Food waste will be processed from across the region to generate renewable electricity and provide a valuable biofertiliser for use on the surrounding estate and farmland.

Philip Blackman, chief executive Merevale Estates, said: “We are delighted to be working with BiogenGreenfinch in this ground breaking project. Their proven track record in delivering AD plants, contracts in the industry and expertise with biofertilisers makes them an ideal partner to anchor the first phase of this centre for renewable energy in North Warwickshire.”

BiogenGreenfinch designs, manufactures and operates food waste anaerobic digestion plants.

The company has three facilities in operation in Shropshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire and has planned a network of plants across the country.
