DSM reveals collaboration plans
Vitamin supplier DSM Nutritional products, based in Derbyshire, said it is hoping to enter a joint venture with food science business Provexis. The pair said they have ambitions to develop a product for the promotion of healthy blood glucose levels.
Under the proposed agreement, Windsor-based Provexis will develop the product, carry out clinical trials and gain regulatory clearances. DSM will contribute intellectual property and know-how and will help obtain regulatory clearances.
Products which maintain healthy blood glucose levels are said to have great potential as they could help address problems including obesity and diabetes, which can lead to heart disease. Sales of foods and drinks marketed to address heart health conditions are growing strongly and were forecast to reach $7.7bn (£4.3bn) in the US and Europe last year.
