Alliance Boots signs deal with Carrefour

Share | |

Alliance Boots and Carrefour have signed a deal that will allow the Nottingham-based pharmaceutical giant to manufacture own-brand beauty products for the multinational retailer.

Boots said the deal will expand the presence of Carrefour and the Boots contract manufacturing business (BCM) and allow the pair to build on the beauty division, which is described as a "core pillar" of Carrefour.

Carrefour and Boots said they will also explore healthcare partnership possibilities in emerging markets to extend the agreement.

Lars Olofsson, Carrefour’s chief executive, said: “This new partnership with Boots is a major step forward for Carrefour. It will allow us to make a quantum leap in the beauty category. This partnership will significantly enhance Carrefour’s attractiveness in a key category and should be a major contributor to becoming the preferred retailer.”

Alex Gourlay, chief executive of the health and beauty division at Alliance Boots, said: “We are delighted to have established this partnership in beauty care between Carrefour and our company. As we investigate healthcare possibilities together in emerging markets, we look forward to creating more opportunities for both organisations.”
