Share | |

Construction work has started on the £30m town centre campus for Dudley College. Leicester-based architectural and engineer practice Pick Everard and Birmingham contractor ISG have both begun work on site.

The Dudley College ‘Evolve’ building is part of a ten-year project aimed to create an additional learning quarter in the town, providing teaching for sixth form, further and higher education.

In addition to the college building, plans have also been submitted for a sixth form and higher education centre in Priory Road. A 'Construction and Engineering Technologies Centre' on the main Broadway campus is also planned for construction in 2015.

The Evolve building will comprise 8,200 sq m (88,200 sq ft), set over four floors. It will incorporate a sports hall, gym, public performance auditorium and dance studios.

Pick Everard associate and architect Brian Rule described the Dudley Evolve as being “widely acclaimed as a building that would help learners achieve their aspirations for the future”.
