Building services provider Inviron has been acquired by European technical service provider Imtech. The purchase of Birmingham-based Inviron aims to improve Netherlands-headquartered Imtech's "value and enable additional growth", it said.

The deal was advised on by Birmingham-based Clearwater Corporate Finance.

Imtech, which has its UK headquarters in Middlesex and operates throughout Europe, said that Inviron was "a perfect match" with the company’s UK operations.

Inviron employs more than 1,000 people and generates a turnover of £130m a year.

The acquisition, the sum of which was undisclosed, will be paid for in cash.

Chief executive of Imtech, René van der Bruggen, said: “Imtech’s objective is to realise revenue of €8bn in 2015. In this context, Imtech aims, among other things, to strengthen its position in the UK. The acquisition of Inviron fits perfectly in this strategy. Imtech can now offer the combination of new build technical solutions and technical maintenance and management throughout the entire UK to a larger customer base.”

In addition, to its Birmingham head office, Inviron has ten regional offices spread across the UK including London, Glasgow, Manchester, Derby, Ipswich and Washington. The company will keep its original name once the acquisition has completed, it said.
