San Carlo to back Flying Pizza with £1m
Restaurant group San Carlo says it will invest £1m in its newly acquired Flying Pizza venue. It comes after the Birmingham-based chain bought the critically acclaimed restaurant from administrator PKF for an undisclosed sum.
Flying Pizza, based in Leeds, has been trading for 35 years and has remained open for business.
San Carlo’s group director, Marcello Distefano, said the group will invest about £1m in the venue.
He said: "We’re thrilled to acquire Flying Pizza, a restaurant with such a great history.
"As a family we often ate there in its hey-day and our intention is to lavishly restore it to its former glory. The venue remains open for business but plans include a full refurbishment and new menus which embrace our signature, great, authentic Italian food."
Flying Pizza joins San Carlo’s eight other UK restaurants and will be its second site in Leeds.
