Chamber visit explores Pakistani trade links

Share | |

Export opportunities across a range of sectors in Pakistan have been identified after a Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Group (BCCG) trade mission. The chamber’s India Pakistani trade unit organised the visit, which was attended by high-profile representatives from companies including Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).

The trade unit is now planning a visit to Islamabad after visiting Karachi in Pakistan. Chamber members are working alongside UK Trade & Investment and the Pakistan High Commission to attract investment opportunities.

The visit has attracted BCCG members and regional businesses including JLR and Hill & Smith.

Jonathan Webber, the BCCG’s director of international trade and development, said: “There most certainly are opportunities for business across a wide range of sectors - including some serious infrastructure opportunities as Pakistan continues to regroup and rebuild after last year's devastating floods.

“Among BCCG's international specialities lies aid-funded business - working with the major donor agencies and non-governmental organisations and it's probable that we shall be organising an aid-funded visit to Pakistan later this year or early 2012.”
