Graduate applications up 68 per cent at JLR
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) said it received more than 6,500 applications for just 280 graduate recruitment places this year. The Warwickshire-based manufacturing giant said the staffing drive was in place to support a multibillion-pound investment plan for new product creation.
Applications were up 68 per cent than in 2010, said JLR, and have more than tripled in two years.
In 2011, the 280 graduates will be hired for a variety of roles across the business including product development, engineering, manufacturing, finance, human resources, IT, marketing and purchasing.
JLR’s human resources director Des Thurlby said: “Our plans over the next few years will see us spending billions of pounds to research and develop exciting new products and technologies. This investment will secure Jaguar Land Rover's position as an innovative, world-class manufacturer of luxury vehicles.”
He added that JLR was “delighted” that it had received so many applications.
The company’s graduate scheme runs for two years.
