72 RGF proposals from West Midlands
West Midlands organisations submitted 72 proposals for the first round of Regional Growth Fund (RGF) bidding. The region put forward 16 per cent of the total bids received by the panel - the second highest number in the UK.
A total of 464 bids were submitted in the first round of bidding for a portion of the £1.4bn cash pot. The bids amounted to £2.78bn.
Of the 72 proposals put forward by the West Midlands, 21 were suggested by the Greater Birmingham LEP, 15 from Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire’s LEP and 12 from the LEP board in Coventry and Warwickshire.
Ten bids were submitted by the Black Country LEP, while The Marches partnership proposed eight. A further eight bids were submitted by the Worcestershire LEP.
Just 76 of the 464 UK-wide bids were not proposed by a LEP. Of all the bids, just 4 per cent requested less than £1m. Sixty-four per cent required between £1m to £5m and 4 per cent have submitted a bid for more than £25m.
The North West of England was the region which submitted the highest number of proposals, with 89 bids.
