JCB has announced plans to recruit up to 80 engineers. The new positions at the Rocester-based company will be at its Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Wales sites.

The company said the new recruits are in response to "a return to growth in global markets".

JCB chief executive Alan Blake said: "JCB's success over the past 65 years has been built on having the very best engineering talent. This year has started very strongly and all the signs at this stage are that growth will continue throughout 2011.

"We need to respond to that growth and strengthen our excellent team of engineers with new talent as demand for our machines increases and as we develop a range of exciting new products for the future."

JCB has also announced details of a new £14m order to supply 350 machines to Kent-based plant hire company HE Services Group.

The company will supply a range of equipment under the deal, including mini excavators, Loadall telescopic handlers, 3CX backhoe loaders, skid steer loaders and tracked excavators.

Blake added: "This year has certainly got off to a flying start for JCB; our order books are in their healthiest position for four years and at this stage the outlook for the rest of 2011 is extremely promising."
