HomeServe cashes in on cold winter

Walsall-based HomeServe said it has seen “good growth” in policy and customer numbers in the three months to December 2010. The home emergency repair company said that during December, the number of jobs completed was up more than 30 per cent on the comparable 2009 period.

The company also attributed the cold weather to “slightly higher gross new policy sales”, as consumers sought to protect themselves from the cost of future home emergencies.

At the end of December 2010 customer numbers were 4.8 million and policy numbers 10.9 million, both about 14 per cent higher than at the same time the previous year.

HomeServe said that its outlook for the full year “remains unchanged, and we look forward to delivering another year of strong growth in line with market expectations”.

The company also reported growth across its overseas divisions, and said that it would “continue to invest in the development of our membership businesses in France Belgium and Italy”.

HomeServe also has divisions in Spain and the USA.
