The head of Leicester’s De Montfort Law School at De Montfort University has been re-appointed to the education and training committee. Sheree Peaple will take a seat on the legal regulatory panel for the fifth year.

Peaple, a property law expert, first joined the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s (SRA) education and training committee as an external member in 2006.

The committee decides educational policy for all prospective and existing solicitors, from degree level through to professional training and qualifications.

It also deals with issues such as transfer arrangements for overseas qualified lawyers who wish to work in the UK.

The panel comprises five external members from the education sector, private legal practice and public sector organisations.

Peaple said: “Legal education faces a challenging time ahead; with the introduction of alternative business structures and outcomes focussed regulation, we need to work hard to ensure legal education is fit for purpose. I am thrilled and delighted to be a key part of the decision making process.”
