£15m university refurb hits the right notes
The £15m regeneration of the University of Leicester’s Percy Gee building has been completed. All three A-grade O2 Academy live music venues which comprise the Students’ Union have been refurbished as part of the project.
The Leicester office of construction company MDA Consulting carried out the refurbishment work.
Academy Music Group (AMG), which owns and operates multiple O2 Academy venues across the UK, collaborated with the University of Leicester and the University of Leicester Students’ Union (ULSU) to complete the upgrade.
Director of MDA Consulting in Leicester, Rob McGuinn, said: "This was a perfect project for MDA Consulting to be involved in. Rejuvenating an existing part of the university is not only good business sense, but a positive step towards helping the environment by reusing existing land and structures. Even better was the idea we could assist in restoring the pride, community spirit and cultural mood of the city."
